Formerly associated with the odd news, the lakeside town has over a period of years loosen its negative publicity and is currently considered to be one of the prime competitors to the Coastal town of Mombasa.
Before, the town had harmful incidents related to rape, violent robberies, slaughter of donkeys and even the dreaded “vampire”. Now, that’s long gone, credit goes to the concerted effort by security agents and residents.
In the previous three years, the hotel numbers has increased sharply, drawing more local and international tourists.
In 2018 alone, the town greeted Lake NaivashaResort and Nest Boutique hotels along the Moi South Lake road. The two joined over 60 other hotels in and around the town.
For music aficionados, Offroad International club off the Moi South Lake junction is considered the most talked about night club in Nakuru County. Just a week ago, it opened its doors to the revelers.
According to the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), between Nairobi and Kisumu, the town, has the greatest number of hotels, making it perfect for tourists.
Kamau Njuguna, a director representing Kenya in the East Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, terms the journey to Naivasha’s recovery of its lost glory long and hurting.
